After PT school, I couldn’t even remember how long it had been since I had read something that wasn’t physical therapy related. Fast forward 16 years, and I still find myself gravitating toward reading material and websites that relate to PT practice, getting our patients better and helping our practices grow. While searching for articles to read, there are a lot of websites that now recommend blogs, good reads and physical therapy influencers. After going through 20 different ones that equated to about 100 different recommendations and accessing the suggested sites, we’ve come up with these 5 that can be used to improve your treatment approach, assist with marketing ideas, and help provoke thoughts to help your practice grow.
Out of these 10 papers, there were two on the list that really stood out to me, but instead of just including those, I am also including the source that guided me to them. The two reads that intrigued me are specific to low back pain and how we create our approach and verbiage for our patients:
“Is A Positive Clinical Outcome After Exercise Therapy For Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain Contingent Upon A Corresponding Improvement In The Targeted Aspect(s) Of Performance? A Systematic Review” by F. Steiger, B. Wirth, and E. D. de Bruin (2012)
And
“Prevention And Treatment Of Low Back Pain: Evidence, Challenges, And Promising Directions” by Nadine E Foster, Johannes R Anema, Dan Cherkin, Roger Chou, Steven P Cohen, Douglas P Gross, Paulo H Ferreira, Julie M Fritz, Bart W Koes, Wilco Peul, Judith A Turner, and Chris G Maher (2018)
I’ve seen Mike listed in many of the blogs I researched, and I remember his name from when we were going over the shoulder during my orthopedic residency, from journal articles to the impact in the sports arena. From con-ed courses to blogs and podcasts, this website has it all.
As our marketing efforts continue to expand, use of social media and influencer marketing is becoming more and more effective and mainstream in all industries, including rehab therapy.
[P]Rehab is an educational platform that teaches people how to take control of their own health through online physical therapy. They have great blogs, body region & sport specific exercises and injury prevention. It’s some of those things we know, packaged nicely and taken to a new level.
This website recognizes those individuals and businesses in the world of physical therapy that have made a meaningful impact in the profession. Their websites are another wealth of information and interesting reads
There is an enormous amount of information regarding physical therapy available on websites and blogs. We’ve listed 5 that we found to be interesting. However, the great thing about websites and blogs is that they can lead to other websites and blogs. There is a never ending stream of information available in today’s world. We hope you can find some time to review these recommendations which may lead you to other sites that also peak your interest.
